Jackson is suspect in Valero murder

Monroe police are investigating yet another murder in the Monroe community.
It happened Friday, August 4 at approximately 2 a.m.
According to MPD public information officer Det. Chris Bates the murder occurred in the vicinity of the Valero station on Martin Luther King Junior Drive. Detectives received a call regarding the incident shortly after 2 a.m., Bates said.

According to the department, a warrant has been issued for Billy Ray Jackson, 46, on a charge of second-degree murder of a victim by stabbing. Jackson is known to live in and frequent the Booker T. area of Monroe, which lies east of U.S. 165.

Jackson is described as a black man, 150 pounds and five feet, six inches tall.
