Cypress Point Elem. Beta Club will compete in Nationals

The Cypress Point University Elementary school Junior Beta Club will represent Northeast Louisiana at the National Beta Club convention, June 11-17 in Savannah, Ga. The Beta Club is an academic club committed to achieving academic excellence and be of service to the community.

The club members competed at the state Competition this past February 21st, in Lafayette, Louisiana where they placed 3rd in Group Talent. Also five members of the group were given the Golden Ticket award and were invited to perform for the opening ceremony, and a flash mob performance during the National convention.

Mrs. Mary Menyweather-Dewitt, principal of CPUE is excited about the opportunity to represent not only the district, but also the state at the National Convention. Mr. Edward Williams, sponsor and Mrs. Charlene Scott, Mrs. Stephanie Campbell, and Mrs. Marva Muhammad co-sponsors are looking forward to bringing back the National Championship trophy.

At this time the club is seeking donations to defray the enormous cost of the once in a lifetime event. No amount is too small, and all contributions can be made payable to CPU Jr. Beta Club.
