Law firm offers $3,500 in scholarship for Black History essays

LOCAL LAW FIRM OFFERS $3,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BLACK HISTORY ESSAYS: There are still a few days left for high school seniors to enter a Black History essay contest and get a chance to win one of two cash prizes.

The Law firm of Breithaupt, DuBos & Wolleson is offering two scholarships to winning high school seniors who submit a 500-word essay about an African-American who has been an inspiration in their lives. The first prize is $2,500 and the second prize is $1,000.00.

Mickey Dubos, said the partners in the firm decided that they wanted to give back to the community by assisting deserving youth with the scholarships. Students of any race are encouraged to apply, but the essay must be about an “African-American” who has inspired them.

The subject of the essay can even be a member of their own family. Student applicants must have a 2.0 average and plan to attend college or vocational school in the fall.

The essays must be “RECEIVED” by Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 5 p.m. Essays can be mailed to: “Scholarship Contest” at 1811 Tower Dr. Ste. D, Monroe, LA 71201 or hand-delivered (even on Sunday) to the same address.
