Mark Twain said, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” Friends will either help you rise or cause you to fall. If you spend your time with unsuccessful people you will be exposed to the same unsuccessful habits. If you associate with eagles, you will soar to great heights. Surround yourself with people that speak encouragement to you. They use words such as:”yes, you can do it”, “I believe in you, and “What can I do to help you?”. Tell me who your best friends are and I will tell you who you are. True friends will continually encourage you to reach for higher goals and bigger dreams.
Encourage a person in advance for the positive traits you want him or her to have, and you will find them making a connection to live up to your praise. We should allow our tongues to be used to edify, to build up, to lift up, to enlighten, to build and to improve morally. I Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” We all need friends in our lives who will raise our standards and challenge us to become the best version of ourselves.
