West Monroe shooter behind bars

A man who fired a handgun multiple times in West Monroe this week is behind bars.

West Monroe Police have arrested a man after they say he fired a handgun multiple times in an attempt to hit another man while in a highly residential area.

Lafabian Sellers, 20 of Monroe, was arrested around 5:33 p.m. Monday evening.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to reports of a shooting at A-1 Mart located at 308 Coleman Avenue.

Once officers arrived, they found that the suspect, Lafabian Sellers, shot multiple times from a moving car into another vehicle attempting to shoot another man.

While Sellers was firing the gun, multiple rounds also went into the home next door where two people were inside.

As Sellers fled the scene, he fired 3-4 more times at the vehicle. The vehicle and its occupants have not been located at this time.

When Sellers was firing the handgun, there were multiple innocent bystanders outside of the store, sitting in their vehicles near where he was shooting.

Two eye-witnesses identified Sellers as the shooter and the incident was captured on multiple surveillance cameras.

Sellers was later located by Monroe Police and transported to the West Monroe Police Department where he refused to give a statement.

He has been booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instruments.

His bond has not yet been set.
