Friday Ellis swearing in as Monroe Mayor set for Tuesday

Friday Ellis will be sworn in as Monroe’s next mayor Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

Ellis was the victor in a five-person race for Monroe Mayor in Saturday’s elections. He polled 52 percent of the overall vote, outdistancing the other four competitors.

Ellis polled 52 percent of the vote, followed by Jamie Mayo at 38 percent, Marie brown at 6% percent, and Fred Louis at 4 percent and Ronnie Scott at 0 percent.

Ellis ran on a campaign that promoted creating an atmosphere for economic growth, racial unity, and compassion for people. He promised to bring great minds to the table to chart a future for the city that promotes a greater Monroe.
